Our Legal Structure & Partnership

The Pier 70 Time Machine is a collaborative initiative dedicated to preserving the history of San Francisco’s waterfront. Legally, it operates as a Joint Venture formed in 2025 in San Francisco, California, under a registered Fictitious Business Name (DBA).

This venture is entirely co-owned, operated, and backed by two established, independent tax-exempt public charities:

Potrero Hill Archives Project – A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 2012.
Bethlehem Shipyard Museum – A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 2012.

Note for Donors & Evaluators: Because the Pier 70 Time Machine is a joint venture of two distinct 501(c)(3) organizations, contributions directly support the joint historical preservation efforts of both founding nonprofits. Financial oversight and tax-deductibility receipts are processed through our member organizations.
